SUMMARY:Gallery Exhibit: "A Photographer Travels" by Jim Amon
DESCRIPTION:Lambertville Public Library\, August 16-September 29\, 2023\n\nPhotographer Jim Amon takes his camera with him when he travels and is displaying travel photographs from many parts of Europe\, New York City\, Iceland\, Alaska\, Morocco\, the American West\, Maine\, and Oaxaca\, Mexico. These are beautiful photographs that reveal the intrinsic character of places that Jim has visited.\nJim Amon\, a Lambertville resident for over twenty years\, has exhibited widely throughout central New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania. He has had one-man shows at the D&R Greenway Land Trust in Princeton\, the East Amwell Historical Society\, the Hunterdon County Library\, and at Gallery 14 in Hopewell. He has joined other artists in shows at Phillips Mill\, Stover Mill\, Trenton Museum\, Perkins Gallery\, and several other venues in the region. His photographs have been published widely and he has published a book of essays and photographs exploring the natural world\, called SEEING THE SOURLANDS.

DESCRIPTION:Flute Juice Productions presents a ZOOM Event: A musical lecture with jazz flautist Galen Abdur-Razzaq on “Jazz & Civil Rights”.  \nA combined lecture and music performance entitled “Jazz and the Civil Rights Movement”. It begins with a flute prelude performed by Galen. Followed by:\nA 60 minutes PowerPoint presentation chronicling the music from the turn of the century to present day and highlights various artists\, their music\, their\ninfluence on the evolution of jazz\, and their struggles. In addition\, it illustrates how jazz became an advocacy for the Civil Rights Movement\, with proceeds\nfrom jazz concerts used to finance major events such as the Freedom Rides and the March on Washington in 1963. DESCRIPTION:The public is invited to an exhibit and sale of artwork created by the artists of the ANEW Artist Alliance at the Lambertville Free Public Library from December 15\, 2022 through January 27\, 2023.\n\nANEW is a group of eighteen self-taught visual artists who participated together for many years in the art program at the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen. Over the past three decades\, these talented outsider artists have shown their work in many diverse venues\, and their unique creations are included in the collections of art lovers near and far. The individual story of each artist\, as well as examples of their vibrant artwork\, can be found at anewartists.com.\n\nFor more information\, including requests to interview the artists\, please contact Susan Darley at (609)921-1825.
