Would you just look at this! It’s happening! It has begun! This is really exciting news for not only the library, but for the whole community. This grand old building has withstood a lot of wear and tear over the decades, and now the time has come for some much-needed repairs. Brick pointing, roof leaks, and other external repairs are all being taken care of. It’s exciting!
At first we thought the building would have to be tented. When old paint is taken off, there are always concerns regarding the possible presence of lead. It used to be that a building was tented, and the old paint was sandblasted off. But now there are newer, even safer ways of removing the old paint, and no tenting is required because the paint isn’t blasted off into the air.
The next changes we will see will be the primer. The building will stand in all its primer-ed glory for a while. It will be pretty interesting to see that. I’ve never seen the library any color other than its current one. I’m not sure what you’d call it; maybe an undefined light brownish color. But later on in the summer, it’s going to be a brand new color, from what I hear. It will be a sea green! Unless plans change, of course. No matter what, a shiny, new, watertight building is going to be a fine sight to see here in Lambertville.
See you in the stacks!
