Board of Trustees

The Lambertville Free Public Library is governed by a nine-member Board of Trustees. The purpose of the Board of Trustees is to be accountable for the resources of the library and to ensure that the library provides the best possible service to its community, in accordance with New Jersey State Laws, regulations of the State Library, and local ordinances. The board’s work is also guided by the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights and commitment to intellectual freedom

Seven trustees are appointed by the mayor, one trustee serves as the mayor’s representative, and one trustee serves as the school superintendent’s representative. Officers (president, vice president, treasurer, secretary) are elected every January. There are four standing committees: Building & Grounds; Policy; Community Outreach; Strategic Planning. Trustees serve in a volunteer capacity with no compensation. We invite you to read the trustee bio pages and the Strategic Plan to learn more.
