Who can participate?
- For Read to Me! Early Literacy Summer Reading at LFPL, kids ages 0 to 4 can participate.
- 4 year olds have the option to participate in either kid’s or Early Literacy summer reading, but not both.
How does it work?
- Grab a Read to Me! Early Literacy Summer Reading Log from the front desk at the library!
- Fill out with stickers or color in the Dino Footprints on the Read to Me! Early Literacy Summer Reading Log with the number of books you read together.
- Use the log to record your reading every day.
- Each tracker is worth 10 books
- Make sure to get your prize for each cutout:
- 10 Books
- A Prize book and your name on the Summer Reading Name Wall 20 Books
- A Prize book
- 30 Books
- A Prize book
40 books
A Summer Reading “Libraries are Life” Bag

- If your reader is old enough, they can also get something from the Prize Chest for each ten books cutout!
- 10 Books
- At the library, put your Read to Me! Early Literacy Summer Reading Log Cutout in the “Little Kids’ Trackers” box.
- Remember to grab a free Prize Book, and, if your reader is old enough, something from the Prize Chest.
- Keep Reading all Summer!
- Once you’ve completed the 40 Books cutout, you can start over again! Keep reading and earning more prize books!
- Disclaimer: You can only get the Summer Reading Bag and $10 Union Coffee gift card prizes once.

What counts as reading?
- Summer Reading is supposed to be fun! Read what interests you.
- Graphic novels, manga, eBooks, audiobooks, and re-read books all count!
- Reading together (with an adult, with a friend, to a younger sibling, and more) also counts!
When does it happen?
Read to Me! Early Literacy Summer Reading 2026 runs from June 17, two days after the Last Day of School, until August 19.
How do I start?
Starting on June 17, you can come to the library to pick up the Read to Me! Early Literacy Summer Reading Log.
